Postdoctoral Opportunities at NCTS 博後工作機會
Do your best theoretical physics at NCTS
The Physics Division of the National Center for Theoretical Sciences (NCTS) brings together theoretical physicists from across Taiwan. We recruit several postdoctoral fellows every year and are always looking for outstanding young researchers who want the freedom, support and community to develop their own research programs.
Why NCTS?
An NCTS postdoctoral position combines the independence of a fellowship with the resources of a national research center.
Research freedom
Pursue your own research agenda. Postdocs are encouraged to start new projects and new collaborations, not just to join existing ones.
Breadth of theory
Twelve Thematic Groups span quantum information, high energy theory and phenomenology, astrophysics, nuclear, condensed matter and interdisciplinary physics.
Many mentors
34 Center Scientists from leading universities and Academia Sinica, plus a steady stream of international visitors, give you many people to learn from and work with.
Your own research funds
Postdocs receive travel and research grants for conferences, collaboration visits and research expenses, in addition to salary.
A nationwide network
Headquarters at National Taiwan University and five hubs: Academia Sinica, NTHU, NYCU, NCKU and NSYSU.
Visibility for your work
Organize workshops, schools and seminars, and compete for the NCTS Postdoc Paper Award. Many alumni have gone on to faculty positions.
Our 12 Thematic Groups
Each postdoc is affiliated with one or more Thematic Groups (TGs). Cross-group projects are welcome. Click a group for its members and activities.
TG1 · Quantum Information & Quantum Computing
TG2 · High Energy Physics & Astrophysics
TG3 · Condensed Matter & Materials Physics
TG4 · Interdisciplinary Research

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to speak Chinese?
No. Research, seminars and administration in the Division are conducted in English.
Can I work with people in more than one Thematic Group?
Yes. Cross-group collaboration is encouraged, and many of our postdocs work across traditional boundaries.
Where will I be based?
Most postdocs are based at NCTS headquarters at National Taiwan University in Taipei. Positions can also be hosted at one of the NCTS hubs (Academia Sinica in Taipei, NTHU and NYCU in Hsinchu, NCKU in Tainan, NSYSU in Kaohsiung), depending on your research group.
I missed the review date. Can I still apply?
Yes. Several positions are open until filled, and we recruit every year. Strong applications are always considered.
Is there support for moving to Taiwan?
Yes. We provide an economy-class airfare for relocation, and the Division office helps with work permits, residence permits and health insurance.
