Abstract:
We will discuss recent efforts to describe tunneling phenomena through a fully real-time formalism using the mathematics of Picard-Lefschetz theory. By analytically continuing the action into the complex domain, the real-time Feynman path integral is well-defined and tunneling phenomena can be identified with complex solutions to the classical equations of motion. By investigating the symmetric Pöschl-Teller potential, we present a simple example with minimal conceptual overhead to explain the key ideas of this framework.
