Title: Slow and stored light via electromagnetically induced transparency using a superconducting artificial atom
Abstract:
Recent progresses in Josephson-junction-based superconducting circuits have propelled quantum information processing forward. However, lacking a metastable state in most superconducting artificial atoms hinders developments in optical quantum memory. In this presentation, we report a superconducting qubit-resonator system resembling a single Λ-type artificial atom under the waveguide quantum electrodynamics architecture that demonstrates light storage in microwave frequency through electromagnetically induced transparency. By employing parametric modulation of the qubit resonance frequency, the probe pulse can be rendered slow and transparent when interacting with the atom via the transmission line. Through the dynamical control of the parametric modulation, on-demand microwave storage and retrieval are realized. These findings underscore the potential of our straightforward design to attain optical quantum memory for quantum information processing in superconducting circuits.
