Abstract:

Laser cooling technology is a fundamental step towards cold atom physics and quantum information processing. In this talk, we first present a sympathetic cooling scheme in a scalable ion trap. Such a scheme provides a mechanism that continuously takes out the heat generated by quantum gate operation, without touching the stored quantum states. In the second part, we will discuss the Doppler cooling force in the super-and subradiant states of two atoms.
