Abstract:
Rare kaon decay measurements are among the most sensitive probes of new physics at very high energy scale where collider experiments can hardly explore.
Of them, the K^0_L -> π^0 vv decay is the most appealing mode because its branching ratio is predicted to be 3x10^−11 with less than 2% theoretical uncertainty.
The KOTO experiment has been studying this mode for a decade and set the worldwide best limit on its branching ratio, 2.2 < 10^−9 at the 90% confidence
level, using the data collected in 2021. This result is two orders of magnitude larger than the Standard Model prediction. Projecting forward, the KOTO-II
experiment has been proposed to precisely measure the K^0_L -> π^0vv decay. Its status and prospects will be given in this talk. In addition, KOTO/KOTO-II,
as a kaon factory, can also measure other rare kaon decays and explore the dark sector particles as a test of light new physics scenarios. Their experimental
status and prospects will also be presented.
