About

Introduction
To provide some background, the National Center for Theoretical Sciences (NCTS) in Taiwan and the Korean Institute for Advanced Study (KIAS) have a longstanding partnership, formalized through an MOU signed several years ago. Over the years, these institutions have collaborated on joint activities, particularly in high-energy physics. In 2023, we expanded this collaboration to condensed matter physics by organizing the inaugural NCTS-KIAS Workshop on Ab Initio Approaches to Quantum Materials. This first workshop, held on April 27–29, 2023, at the NCTS on the National Taiwan University (NTU) campus in Taipei, Taiwan, focused on developments in ab initio methodologies and their applications in quantum materials.

The success of the 2023 event led to the 2024 NCTS-KIAS Workshop on Ab Initio Approaches to Quantum Materials, hosted by KIAS in Seoul, Korea, from April 17–19, 2024.

We are excited to announce that the 2025 NCTS-KIAS Workshop on Theoretical Approaches to Quantum Materials will take place from April 17–19, 2025, at National Sun Yat-sen University in Kaohsiung, Taiwan
