Category Quantum computing and interdisciplinary applications
Event Duration 2014-12-01 - 2014-12-19
Conference Name NCTS Program on Topological Aspects of Quantum Matter
Content This program will attract a selected group of leading experts working on topological aspects of quantum matter both at the experiment and theory levels. This active area of research encompasses a number of research fields, ranging from String theory/High Energy Physics to Condensed Matter and Atomic Physics. The program consists of four topical workshops (“AdS/CFT, Entanglement, and Topological Aspects of Quantum Matter”, “Topological Fluids , Artificial Gauge fields, and Spin-Orbit Coupling in Ultracold gases”, “Spin Transport and Topological Phases: From semiconductors to two-dimensional crystals” and “Topological Superfluids and Superconductors”, and a conference. The conference “Topological Aspects of Quantum Matter” will bring together experts on all these different fields in order to provide to the participants (researchers and students) with a comprehensive overview of the field. The workshops will be devoted to more specialized topics within the field.

Local researchers and postdocs are encouraged to contribute talks to the workshops, and students to contribute posters.

Except for the conference days (Dec. 8-12), the organizers do not plan a very tight schedule of talks during the program. Thus, we expect to promote many direct interactions between participants.
